The Females from the Sensual Romance Series

In my last post I discussed the men of the Sensual Romance Series. I think it is only fair to give the women the same attention.

I used my own job experiences when creating several of my female protagonists. Kit Landon, from After Sundown, once managed her parent’s restaurant. I once managed my parent’s restaurant. She is an old fashioned girl, who just wants to be a stay-at-home mother, and raise her young daughter. Unfortunately, her husband was tragically murdered, and she is forced to find some way to support her daughter and herself.

Ella from While Snowbound is an author, like me. While Kit from After Sundown is focused on her daughter, Ella is focused on her writing career, and enjoys spending time alone. Ella’s special needs Aussie was patterned after our Aussie, Lady, who like Ella’s dog Sam, needs help to get in the car, and rarely barks.

I borrowed my daughter’s career for Sugar Rush's Lexi. The character Lexi has recently graduated, earning a graphic design degree. Our daughter Elizabeth is a freelance graphic designer, and the one responsible for my beautiful book covers.

As for Lexi’s hot fudge recipe used in Sugar Rush – that was borrowed from my father. But enough for now. Sugar Rush hasn’t been released yet.

Happy New Years from Anna J. McIntyre!

As we head into 2013, I thought it was time I gave this blog an update for the New Year. Have a look around; you'll see by the links under the top banner that I’ve added some pages.

I’m current writing the second book in my Sensual Romance Series. Like the first book in the series, After Sundown, it is a standalone story that brings the reader romance, sexual tension and a happy ending.

I haven’t found my title yet, but the story is about a famous rock star, who has grown weary of the attractive female fans breaking into his hotel room and climbing into his bed uninvited. What he need is some time alone, which is not easy, considering he has one of the most recognizable faces in the country and paparazzi are perpetually camped outside his door.

He manages to find a cabin getaway, where he plans to spend time alone and work on his music.  What he doesn’t expect is a blizzard, or finding himself trapped alone with an attractive young author.

Yet the biggest surprise comes when the reclusive author really has no idea who he is, isn’t a fan of his music, nor is she terribly impressed with the rock star.

If you have a great idea for a title, I would love to hear it!

Hope you have a wonderful New Year's Eve, and don't forget to get a designated driver, if you plan to go out and  enjoy some holiday cheer.

Coulson Chamber of Commerce

In my last post, I explained the fictitious community of Couson, the setting for my story, Lessons was inspired by Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Yet, the Coulson Chamber of Commerce was not inspired by the Lake Havasu Chamber of Commerce – but by the Wrightwood Chamber of Commerce.

Wrightwood is a small mountain community located in Southern California, where my husband, children and I had a home for over a decade. For a number of years I was active in the Wrightwood Chamber of Commerce, which held its meetings at the local community building, as in my story.

Not all Chamber of Commerce organizations operate in the same way. And I imagine some people will read the story and question the accuracy of the depiction, for it certainly doesn’t reflect how the Chamber works in Havasu. Yet, it does reflect how the Wrightwood Chamber operated during my tenure with the organization.  Of course, action in the Coulson Chamber was a bit more spicy!

Anna J. McIntyre's Lessons

Available Christmas 2011

Only three people know the real reason for Garret Coulson’s hasty departure ten years earlier and why he never returned. With Ryan Keller’s death, everything has changed, and Garret can come home at last.

Garret arrives before Christmas and brings with him the secrets that sent him away. Those secrets have the power to shatter lives, yet perhaps, they will instead heal hearts.
